I was using the first. But understood this is not wise and bad practice as you said too. I'd like to migrate to 3rd option as I said in first post too and you listed also. So in my script that would be 2 db connection, one via entityManager to work with entities and one via dbal to use for zend/log and also to check whether db is installed otherwise redirect them to /install/ folder.
