is there version of Doctrine DBAL, which is not use pdo_oci ?
Doctrine DBAL also has a driver based on oci8 to connect to Oracle
database. pdo_oci is not the only solution.
Note that you will still need PDO itself on the server as it is a
requirement for DBAL, even though the DBAL driver used is not using PDO
for the connection.
