I can see that the original PR https://github.com/doctrine/dbal/pull/824 was merged into master long ago, though not in the release master.
So, any plans to include it or any blocking issues? I am (and I believe a lot of people around also) keen to see it finally in doctrine, so if any help is required additionally I'd be glad to dedicate some of my time into the problem.
