Hello docs team, I'm forwarding this registered bug to the list so that we can take our piece of the action on it.
The request is to write an informative help entry explaining what the "Enable Experimental (unstable) Features" checkbox does in the "Tools > Options > General" dialog box. "@David: Currently no useful help is available, Help for that dialog item ends for heading "Document status". Can you please add useful Help and then reassign to someone who can complete dialog text for E.F (if necessary and feasible)?" You can view the conversation regarding this bug at: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38509 Does anyone have any suggestions or feel like jumping in? -- David Nelson Forwarded conversation Subject: [Bug 38509] Meaningless text and missing Help for Options Dialog checkbox "Experimantal (unstable) features ------------------------ From: <[email protected]> Date: Tue, Jul 26, 2011 at 14:25 To: [email protected] https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38509 Rainer Bielefeld <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary|Confusing naming for |Meaningless text and |enabling Macro recording |missing Help for Options | |Dialog checkbox | |"Experimantal (unstable) | |features Status|REOPENED |ASSIGNED AssignedTo|[email protected] |[email protected] |desktop.org | -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. ---------- From: <[email protected]> Date: Wed, Jul 27, 2011 at 01:34 To: [email protected] --- Comment #3 from Sigrid Carrera <[email protected]> 2011-07-26 15:34:11 PDT --- We had an "error report" for this on the German discuss list. Here's my suggestion for the help-text for the two missing entries: Allowing to save unchanged documents This option allows to save a document that wasn't changed since you last saved/opened it. This setting is disabled by default. Activating experimental features This setting activates experimental - and therefore probably buggy - features in the program. This includes features like the macro recorder or the in-line editing of Math formulae. If you find any bugs, please check the support page in the online help. (A. Schnabel: The last sentence is a note for the developer to link to this page.) Corrections to the wording is welcome. ---------- From: <[email protected]> Date: Wed, Jul 27, 2011 at 01:34 To: [email protected] Sigrid Carrera <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] | |om ---------- From: <[email protected]> Date: Wed, Jul 27, 2011 at 08:44 To: [email protected] --- Comment #4 from Rainer Bielefeld <[email protected]> 2011-07-26 22:44:17 PDT --- @Sigrid: Looks good, should be integrated. Now the question remains what to do with the UI text line. If the Help links in the Help buttons would be more context related we could leave it, but currently i takes a half dozen clicks until you reach Help for the dialog. -- David Nelson -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/documentation/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
