Your background sounds great. Please look around on the wiki (separate from the ODFAuthors website) and see what might interest you. In addition to work on user guides or anything else, you're welcome to improve the pages in the Documentation section to make them more useful and the content less scattered. At the moment we're working on user guides for LibreOffice v4.0, which is due for release in mid-February.
