You might want to bear in mind the recent caveats against Windows Java, the JRE 
and the security issues that U.S. Homeland Security and others have posted:

Mozilla/Firefox have disabled their Java add-ons by default, and one must 
enable them at one's own risk. In view of these issues, maybe it would be 
better to simply disregard the JRE recommendations for the time being, or at 
least get the dev. people to bless any recommendation -- ?
