You might want to bear in mind the recent caveats against Windows Java, the JRE and the security issues that U.S. Homeland Security and others have posted:

In view of these issues, maybe it would be better to simply disregard the JRE recommendations for the time being, or at least get the dev. people to bless any recommendation -- ? Cheers!
