Numbered lists are used to reference specific items. This is important for
both legal AND technical documents.

   1. Can someone give a reference to a LibreOffice Guide section, around
   the middle a few levels down, to demonstrate how well lists work without
   numbering?
   2. What does remembering list numbers have to do with which list styles
   to use?
