Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else on the list has experienced and solved
a problem similar to the one I now have.
Over the past few months the driver's door on my Intrepid had a
periodic problem which now seem permanent. Specifically, if I opened
the door using my key or if I had unlocked the driver door with the
remote then re-entered the vehicle several minutes later by way of
the same door the interior lights would NOT go on.
Just this past weekend during the evening the alarm on the car
started going off apparently without reason. A quick check revealed
nothing so I relocked it with the remote and 2 hours later it
happened again, again with no indication of any tampering.
A closer inspection revealed the following. Not only was the interior
light no longer coming on when I opened the driver's door but nor was
the key cylinder light. Also, the key in cylinder chime no longer
operated and if I used the power lock button to lock the car the
alarm light WOULDN'T come on. However, the door locks and power
windows do still function perfectly and when I opened the passenger
door the lights came on and the key cylinder lit up and I COULD
activate the alarm using it's button.
Thus, I figure there is something wrong with the driver door switch
and the alarm is probably going off because it isn't receiving a
proper signal.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how did you repair
it/how much did it cost?
Any help would be appreciated.
