It's a 2.7, right?

Have the engine checked out. NOW.  If you weren't aware, this engine has
had problems with oil starvation to bearings and timing chain due to
sludge buildup.  Also the water pump on that motor, if it leaks, does so
into the crankcase, which contaminates the oil.

A lot of these engines have failed long before 70,000 miles, and they
have NOT had the added strain of someone driving it at over 100mph four
or five times a year.

The best way to avoid the sludge problem seems to be to use synthetic
oil.  There is no way to solve the problem of water contamination when
the water pump leaks.
