Yes, there is a worm drive which in turn drives a rack and pinion to run the regulator. If the window is stuck, run the engine to get the voltage up and give the regulator motor a sharp rap with a rubber mallet or even the bottom of your fist with the window switch held in the direction you want it to go. Most times it will break free and operate normally for a while, no promises on how long.
