Lucas is the worst stuff ever! I have seen more messed up more parts with that stuff then any amount of help it could provide.
Not sure how a tranny could cause power loss, but the getting stuck in second gear is what's known as limp mode. It's also not uncommon for a rebuld to have a significantly shorter lifespan than the OEM tranny. My suggestion is to swap your tranny out for a 00/01 or later second generation tranny. I say 00/01 cause i forget exactly which year the trannies for the LH cars got beefed up. But like a 99 is essentially the same thing as a 95 tranny with only minor upgrades. But in 00 or 01 they went through and beffed them up making them last longer. I've done the 2G swap on mine and it is doable for a good garage mechanic. Don't waste money on a rebuild, grab a junk yard tranny $300-700(depending on mileage and age) and put that in your 95. It is "mostly" a bolton. but there is some modification that needs to be done to get them to work. Took my about three days to do mine, but I like to take my time and have several beer breaks throughout the process. ;) Good luck. Even if you don't do it yourself, pay a mechanic to do the 2G swap for you. It's your best bet in my opinion.
