Update to previous posting....took it in to a local mechanic for a 2 
hour diagnostic on the electrical system to find out that the ignition 
switch was defective at its main connector. Couldn't get switch from 
any local vendors, so have to wait for a shipment...funny thing was 
that while driving back from shop, I decided to move adjustable 
steering column 'up a notch' and all problems cleared up! Even the air 
bag sensor light ( which usually comes on if the co2 charge is not 
sufficient). All connections cleaned and reseated. Case solved for now!
