No, the transmissions are at least somewhat different. The 2.7L has a different ratio in the final chain-drive to get a little better performance out of the smaller engine. Not sure what other differences there are. The basic design is essentially the same, although I'd SWAG there are probably differences in the clutch packs, too. The Intrepid trans is known as the 42LE. 4- 4 forward speeds, 2-#2 torque rating, L-Longitudinal installation, E- Electronic controls.
