No, the transmissions are at least somewhat different.  The 2.7L has a
different ratio in the final chain-drive to get a little better
performance out of the smaller engine.  Not sure what other
differences there are.  The basic design is essentially the same,
although I'd SWAG there are probably differences in the clutch packs,
too.  Not sure on that, though.

It's a derivative design.  The Intrepid trans is known as the 42LE. 
4- 4 forward speeds, 2-#2 torque rating, L-Longitudinal installation,
E- Electronic controls.  The minis use transmissions with a 'TE'
designation -- T for transverse.

Since they use transverse engines, they are slightly different,
although the basic design of the internals is the same.

No lie!  Although those trannys had different revisions out there as
well.  I believe the bellhousing for the /6 was considerably different
than the LA motors, for example.  And the LA bellhousing might have
been different than the RB, but I'm not sure about that.
