  I had a '99 that presented me with the identical situation you're describing. 
When I would be coming to a complete stop the oil light would just slightly 
flicker and then continually stay on once I was stopped and idling. Then when 
I'd go to accelerate the light would go off immediately and stay off while I 
was driving. It turned out to be nothing more than the sensor.
   
  Get it fixed- it's a cheap part.
