In August '99 I purchased a brand new '99 Intrepid (base model) that was equipped with a 2.7L and was immediately impressed with how stingey it was on gas for being such a large automobile. However, I remember it lacking a bit of 'ooomph' when it was time to plant the right foot down when merging onto freeways in and around Atlanta. Problems? Really none to speak of. I kept hearing about this sludge problem that people had or were experiencing when it came to the oil and I never did. I always looked or had someone check for me from time to time for the 'blue smoke' that was said might come from the exhaust. None. However, I only had the car for about six years and logged only 48,000 miles before I had my accident and totalled the car. But, alas... I was fortunate enough that within 2 days of my collision I was able to purchase a brand new White '04 Intrepid SXT from the same Dodge dealer that my previous Intrepid came from and now this Intrepid I've got has the 3.5L and I really like this engine much more. It is a bit noisier that the previous car and it requires just slightly more gas to quench it's thirst but it is quicker off the 'starting line' and when needed has quite a bit more energy to get me into those tight 'merge fast' situations. So, for me... I would take the 3.5L. Hands down. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Protect your PC from spy ware with award winning anti spy technology.
