Lots of people have done it themselves.  You'll want to replace the water
pump and the timing belt's idler pulley while you're in there.  You can get
the crank pulley puller as a "free" rental from AutoZone if you place a
deposit with your credit card, although the last time I managed to work the
belt on without pulling the crank pulley.  You're looking at an all-day sort
of job if it's your first time, but it's fairly straightforward.  If you
have a garage and the tools, do it yourself and save a lot of $$ on labor.
