wow! the boiling point information makes alot of sense about the sludge. i will
keep the other information about the sensor at hand. i havent had any problems,
but im sure they are to arise and i want to be prepared as possible.

that gets hotter than most engines and has
bad oil galleys, using synthetic oil is the only way to correct this
problem. normal oil has a lower boiling point than synthetic and
breakes down to quick and creates sludge. if your oil pressure light
comes on and flickers, most likely is a bad sensor, about $20 from
the dealer. only use the dealer part or it will fail again. chrysler
knows about this problem and they think it is vaccuum between the
wire connector and the switch, where it plugs in. they have a fix
called a vent wire that can be bought from dealer for around $15 or
can be made for under $1 go to dealer and look at it and u can buy
the wire connector and a length of wire bassically making the same
part. i have put 6 sensors into mine in just over a year. i have
tried almost every brand of sensor and they have all leaked. seems
like the light will come on more when it rains. the switch has a
plastic diaphram in it and being so close the the exhaust can break
down also. i am going to try to make a heat sheild or wrap it in
heat tape and see if it cures it. if the light comes on, pull car
over right away, check engine oil. if oil is ok 99% chance it is a
switch. turn on engine and listen under hood for knocking or loud
ticking, if so shut engine down right away. if not, go to dealer and
buy the switch. it is on the pass side just next to the converter.
takes a sensor socket or i use a pair of vise grips to get out. when
you remove the wire connector that plugs into it, you probally will
see oil leaking out of it. spray connector with some brake clean to
clean it off. install new sensor hand tight and carefully tighten
about 1/4 turn more this does not have to be put in till it wont
turn anymore. doing so will damage sensor. then put on the vent wire
which takes a pick or possibaly can use a paper clip to get the
sealing dart or plastic plug on the opposite side of the wire in the
connector put in new vent wire and replace the connector. hope this
helps and any more questions about the 2.7 you have, i will try to
answer the best i can.
