Sounds like your coolant is low.  I used to have that problem all the time 
before i replaced my head gaskets.  I'd fill it up and within a months time it 
would be low enough to where I would lose heat if the car was sitting still.  
Your problem might not be a head gasket, but it definitely sounds like low 
coolant.  I'd check that first.  If you notice the cooling system loosing it's 
coolant quickly then you might want to start looking for a leak.

I have a 2002 with a 2.7 with 65,000 miles. I notied ehre the last several 
month WHEN NEEDED that my heater is not warmign up like it use to. I can start 
my car, put it on high heat hight blast and coem back in 10 minutes and it is 
still blowing cold. I live 10 miles form work and I am almost to work before my 
car gets warm.
Now what really got me thinking there was a problem was comign home the other 
day I had to sit still in traffic a good 10 minutes due to a wreck. SAs I sat 
there the car lost its heat....soon as I started movign it started heating 
again.
I jsut called the dealer and they informed me things lije this we not 
covered...it would cost me 79.00 jsut to let them look at it. My son can fix 
anyrthign but it is figureign out the problem. He is supose to look at it soon 
BUT I wasnted ot ask you guys as I know you all know what you are tlaking about 
and maybe this has happen to soemof you.
