What year is your Intrepid? If its 1998 or newer, then the fuse panel is on the side of the dashboard that is covered when the driver's door is closed. Open the door and give the panel a pull and it will come off.
Again, if it's 1998 or newer, finding the piece of metal shouldn't be too bad. Park the car on a level surface and set the parking brake. With the key switched on, pull the gear selector all the way down. There is a set screw on the back of the handle that you can loosen and then you'll be able to pull the gear shift lever handle off by tugging straight up. Remove the ashtray. Pop the bezel surrounding the radio by tugging on it with firm, even pressure. Once that's out of the way, the bezel surrounding the gear shift lever can be pulled up, revealing the space underneath.
