Disc brakes are inherently noisy, and the Intrepid is no exception to this. Squealing and grinding isn't uncommon, especially if the rotors were turned and the mechanic didn't hit them with a scotchbrite pad or some coarse sandpaper to knock the directional groove off the machined surface that was left there by the lathe.
There are noise absorbing products which can be applied to the backing of the pads that will dampen the sound somewhat. OEM pads came with some noise absorbing material on the backings that served this purpose. Inexpensive replacement pads might not have come with them. --Geoff On Dec 27, 2007 6:37 PM, Thomas R Hansen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Gabe, > Being too lazy to go back and look what year your car is, My > brother-in-law had a 97 with the squeel and grind noise after replacing > the pads and rotor turn.
