EJ,

Thanks for the tip.  I'll try the Contact Cleaner trick and let you know if it
works.

Thanks again,
Jay

Hi Jay,

I had the same issue with my dash dimmer switch.

In the past I used CRC Contact Cleaner on other switch problems and I tried

it on the thumbwheel dimmer switch on the dash with great satisfaction.

The product is available in an aerosal can including the plastic straw.

With caution I very lightly and quickly sprayed a very, very small amount

on either side of the thumbwheel center points with the can upright (vertical)

and the plastic straw horizontal. After a very short spray I rotated the

thumbwheel completely in one direction then completely in the opposite

direction and allowed a few minutes for the solution to dry/evaporate

prior to engaging power to test the result.

PLEASE BE ADVISED I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY GROUND

WIRE JUST TO PLAY IT EXTRA SAFE.

I found the CRC Contact Cleaner available in Walmart for less than $5.00.

Very possibly NAPA and other parts stores may carry it.

In addition if you have any volume switches on radios or other electronic

devices that have that annoying static sound when adjusting the volume

control the CRC Contact Cleaner may solve that problem also. Please

ensure the electronic device is unplugged prior to a very, very short

spray burst. Rotate completely in both directions a few times and allow

a few minutes for the solution to dry/evaporate prior to engaging power

to test the result.

I hope the above is of benefit to you and other readers.

All the best.

EJ

OK....I rotated the dash light dimmer switch back and forth several

times, drove the car for a while and the flickering light issue reared

it's ugly head!

On to the next possible fix, replacing the original battery. Drove

the car again for quite a while and the problem is still there.

I'll be driving down the road or sitting at an intersection, and hear

the click, click, clicking of a relay. If I'm behind someone I'll see

the reflection of the lights flickering.

This is not a full-time issue. It only pops up from time to time.

And it only seems to occur when the parking lights along with the fog

lights are on.

Should I completely change out the dimmer switch?

Thanks,

Jay
