Subject: Diamond + undercarts h36 and hk36

Yesterday I had a good look at a tricycle HK36 Katina which has a new
undercart and on examination it looked very much a Grove undercart and
the owner confirmed it was except you can not buy it from Grove direct
but must buy from Diamond in Austria

My point is if they make them for HK36 Super Dimona why don't they make
them for the std Dimona h36. Grove undercarriages are fully certified
replacements for Cessna 150, C172 and Pitts etc so they must know what
they are doing.

I can say with Diamond Aircraft the Spare parts manager is Phill Shanks
and he is from Canada and speaks perfect English. One day when the Left
hand of Diamond and the right hand of Diamond did not know what they
were doing I emailed Phill a bit annoyed and within the minute he phoned
me back explaining all and saying he was sorry which was great.

We all know how hopeless the fibreglass legs are on the present
undercart of h36 and why in hell to they persist in sending out such
rubbish I will never know. I am going to give one last try to get
Diamond to wake up to them selves (others give them a serve if you wish)
and if that fails see what we can do with getting a Grove undercart
approved here in AUS
I would suggest hk36 owners measure up their undercart exactly and match
this up with Grove special order form on their web site and then get a
quote - you will find replacement is <$US2000!!! and buy from there if
it ever fails - Probably it will never fail so you might never get the
chance!!!!! I got a quote within 24hrs from Grove for a guess at the
h36 cart and it came in at about $US1700!!!! Better than that glass
thing at $10K!!!!! Many of my friends use Grove and they are totally
happy with them.

Come on Diamond A/c get up to date I say.

Bye

Ian McPhee

(PS John V I believe you may soon visit factory well please give it to
them about that GRP thing they make and why do they say if you want to
repair the undercart it must come back to them and they will not release
the present layup - we have some very good fibreglass people in AUS)
