Nigel,
I was chatting to JR regarding that work safety e-mail you sent and agree with
him that its a BEAVER. If things went wrong it would be a cock up, no doubt
about it.
Ask Dion, he will understand and be able to confirm our thoughts on this.
LOL

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Limbach Fuel Pump

  Hi All.
I have had a few enquiries for Fuel Pump Overhaul Kits lately.
The bad news is they are no longer available. Supply ceased in January.
The thing is Most modern cars are fuel injected and thus run electric pumps
for the pressure and in fact most of the later model cars before EFI became the
norm used electric pumps too.
Thus as the old Volky's get less and less on the road the demand got so low
that it wasn't worth it anymore for the manufacturer to produce the stuff.
Limbach searched hard for an alternative supply of the Diaphragm and Pivot
Arm with no luck. Seems there was only the one company left doing it.
Fortunately they did source a replacement pump with the same hole pattern and
Banjo type hose fitting which is almost a direct replacement. It does require
either a new Fiber Mounting Block or machining the old unit down to the correct
length.
They found an Italian Manufacturer of Stationery Engines that still uses
mechanical pumps and Carbs.
Thus "for now" we have an alternative pump. How long for we don't know.
This type of problem isn't going to go away I expect. As with the Fuel Pump I
expect supply of Carby parts will dry up before I am done flying as well so
keep this in mind.
I am going to organize myself a stash of bits over a period of time as
insurance to keep me flying if stuff does dry up.

  Cheers.
  Nige.
