Graveltex or Gravatex Used as a car under panel rough finish to hide stone chips. Acrylic base and lumpy in texture. Hard wearing undercoat. Original finish is a vulcanised rubber thingy. Think it might be far retardant but in the end useless in all manner. Nige.

Go to your local automobile paint supplier and explain the finish you want. It is a single pack paint often used for the undersides of cars and inside panels. Steer clear of the similar tar based paint. It is a thick paint that needs a special gun (which is not expensive). When you spray, it comes out in small drops rather that a fine spray....great finish for covering up a rough surface Rob ............................................. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Michael Stockhill <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, 15 September 2012 11:25 AM Subject: [DOG mailing list] H-36 interior refinishing Not sure this will get to everyone on the DOG list. My H-36 is based in Polson, MT, USA. Pushing 300 flights in it, but admit to being distracted recently by a PIK-20E purchase. I am interested in refinishing the cockpit. The original finish has a texture and seems to be multi-toned paint in taupe shades. Does anyone know how this finish was applied at the factory and if there is a known way to duplicate it?
