Hi John,

Thanks for your usual comprehensive response and thanks to Nils too.

I know one of the owners of XOO and have made contact with him. He will search
his documentation for me as soon as he has a chance.

I wasn't aware that it is such a young aircraft with something like only 400
odd hours TT.

Regards
Laurie Hoffman

Hello Laurie,
I am assuming that you do not have a copy of the factory’s initial W & B
report?  That is the document you need as it will show weights of all the
individual components.
When a NEW aircraft is brought onto the Australian register and an application
for a C of A is lodged, a copy of the original factory W & B report will have
been lodged with the GFA, along with other aircraft documents, and will have
been retained in the aircraft’s “G” file at the GFA secretariat.
Second-hand aircraft MAY come with a copy of the original W&B but generally
not, although of course a W & B report will have been performed in Australia
prior to issue of the Australian C of A, and a copy of that report would be in
the “G” file.  You should have a copy of that one already, but if not, check
with the GFA airworthiness office to see what is on file.

Of course the manufacturer would have a copy of the initial W&B document, but
whether you can obtain it through Diamond I would not like to say, but you
could certainly try.  Bernard Eckey might be able to oil the wheels with the
factory for you.

So far as I can remember the only new H-36 to come to Australia was John
Hilton-Wood’s VH-XOO, which was sold a year or more ago to a syndicate at Byron
Bay.  Its factory W & B should be on file at GFA, but John’s paperwork was very
well kept so I am sure the current owners will have a copy of all the factory
documents too.  While probably not identical to your aircraft, that W & B
would give you a pretty good ball park figure of weights of new wings.   Macca
could put you in touch with the syndicate if GFA can’t help.
Kind regards,
JGV

Hi All,

Would anyone happen to have or know where I could obtain the weight of the
Dimona H36's wings as they came out of the factory?
