Hi all. This from Ruth yesterday.. Ian is one of our members from Victoria Australia and known to many on this list. I have nothing to add other than Ruth’s mail is disturbing to me as it will be to many of you. I am sure those of you who know him will be thinking of him and family. Note as Ian is a member this will obviously be going to him as well via Ruth. Ruth my thoughts are with you and Ian. I hope to see him on Monday. Nige.

The cancer has travelled to the fluid around Ian’s brain and is untreatable and incurable. The docs are still in the dark but think he has weeks, maybe months left. They have started him on steroids to reduce the inflammation, which is controlling the hallucinations and confusion for the moment but is not a long-term solution or cure. We’ll enjoy our last little while with him while he’s still lucid. For the moment he is staying in the Austin palliative care Unit until they get the pain medication more effective. We’re planning a few treats and hope he can manage the exertion. Please keep sending us your love and prayers, but please understand if we don’t respond much, as our focus and energies are inward at this time. Rest assured, if you offer help and we need it, we will be in touch. love and best wishes to all Patching family
