Well it has come to pass. Overnight we lost a Dogger. Caleb rang me this morning. Ian went into final glide yesterday and as Caleb put it “Landed Out” without retrieve. Thus we have lost a member. I have fond memories of that cheeky smile and bright sense of humour. An enthusiastic GFA member both as a pilot and maintenance man committed to keeping the Vintage stuff flying. There will only ever be one Patch.
Caleb told me it was peaceful. The doctors got the medication rite and he was not experiencing bad pain. Caleb was there with the family when he landed out and assured me it was a good out landing. Thus the end of an era. The GFA “CAD”Chair of the Airworthiness Department has welcomed his second son into the world and Ian has left. That is Life. Nige.
