G'day All, We had a Rocker shaft clip pop off - this caused a considerable clatter due to the sideways movement in the rocker and pushrod. Not a particularly big deal for a short engine run but if you were somewhere where you had to run the engine for a while you most probably would end up with a complete failure. Suggestions... 1- Make sure the wave washers and clips on your rocker shafts are not too old. The wave washers have been known to break and end up in the sump. 2- Wrap lock wire around the clips on both ends...the local VW bloke suggested this to me as they have a habit of breaking. Sounds good to me but I haven't tried it.
