Hi Nige, We talked about this a while back & I see no reason why it shouldn’t be of benefit. Only concerns are that the valve sealing might not be adequate to cope with all the extra oil. Umbrella seals are not good in horizontal applications so maybe consider the push on ones with spring loaded oil seal mas is commonly used in Jap cars. Might mean some machining of the tops of the guides. FC332AQP is approved for engine oil, is available in 3/8 & ½”, working pressure to 300 psi and working temp to 150 C.
What pump have you got? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Nigel Baker Sent: Sunday, 28 December 2014 12:44 AM To: DOGS Subject: [DOG mailing list] CHT Problems Hi All. Attached is something that may be of interest. It is the first draught and unedited and incomplete application. I am going to move NHB into the Experimental Category temporarily under the R&D rules to test one of my mad ideas which I hope will be successful. I have had discussions with Peter Limbach who has not ruled out the idea but is unsure how effective it will be. However he is interested to see my test results. NHB will be used for Temp Flights for the Australian Sports Class Comps at WKI starting in the new year. This will be a great test period for my hair brained scheme. If it works I will work on ways to keep drag to a minimum but meanwhile this is the rough draft testing kit to manage proof of concept. If it doesn’t work then I have wasted my time and a bit of money. If it does and I see a reduction in CHT then I will get serious about a neat tidy streamline solution along the lines a surface cooling radiator system. If successful then I will go for an approval of the modification and put it back on a normal Certificate of Airworthiness. The plan is to do the approval in a way that will allow it to be easily applied to other H36’s in OZ. Time will tell. Cheers. Nige.
