Sorry Ian that is not correct.
Read Den’s email again. If it is a G109 where the manual does not mention life
in years then the calendar life does not apply.
If it is a Dimona where it does specify a calendar life then that life applies.
I checked the Manual on the Diamond Website and it is the same manual and
unchanged since 1985. The airworthiness limitations have not changed and thus
as part of the original Type Certificate they apply.
The CASA AD specifically precludes “sport aircraft” which is us. You should
read the AD again carefully. I have talked to Rob and Den about asking CASA to
remove that limitation in the AD from GFA Aircraft.
Cheers.
Nige.

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Prop service

Enc below is paste of what I sent to Eric Weston. Thus if you have rotation
play in blade ASK for an exchange boss at $240 no iffs no maybes.

Also as now GFA reflect CASA then it seems calendar based service on props and
engines are GONE except for charter (training, AAFs conversions etc are not
charter even if money changes hands). A switched on LAME friend alerted me and
a long email from Dennis Stacey confirmed it. So no more 12years on rotax and 6
years 11months on prop service.

Personally with our crap car fuel we have in Australia I would personally still
do calendar service on mechanical fuel pumps etc.

I can say the prop has never been better at changing the prop pitch in 15
years. Prop change now is so easy! When at burketown I checked all 4 similar
props on motorgliders & ours just out of service had more rotational play than
all the others. Thus in future I believe if you see such props with such
rotation play I suggest you consider at $240 fit an exchange boss.
