I assume this is L2000 & not L2400. Wondering if you are seeing a rise in EGT at 300 to 400rpm below maximum (or a drop in EGT as you use full power)
Re use of choke is interesting. With falke which has single carb & carb heat for first 75 hrs I would use partial carb heat to richen mixture so as to contain CHT. Went to our BMC carb doctor & got it sorted out. It was only necessary to use carb hrat in winter on Coast but not at Warwick at 1500ft. Ian Mc Phee 0428847642 Box 657 Byron Bay NSW 2481
