A friend with L2000 when pulling through by hand had one soft cylinder but it passed the differential compression test in flying colours.
On careful examination the original steel plug crushing washer was damaged and was the cause of a slight leak. I hate the china crap narrow washers and usually use aircraft spruce ones but found these real good ones at Auto Barn below. Spoke to Geoff Sim who has owned motorbike shops for almost 50yrs and grob 109 VH-HDS and many aircraft since and he yelled DON'T USE THOSE STEEL THINGS MORE THAN ONCE. He says they can damage the flat surface in the aluminium head as well as never seal perfectly a 2nd or 3rd time around. I think there are less issues with 2400/2500 heads and rotax heads as plugs all have much longer threads. It all makes sense and was such a, simple fix - just a good quality copper washer like ALL GA engines use for 70 years. I heard on the grapevine DG have realised the fuel lines they have used of their Turbo installs is total crap and are suggesting a new 10 yr life hose. I hope schempp hirth soon realise the crap hose they use on their turbo gliders as that is crap. Ian McPhee 0428847642 Box 657 Byron Bay NSW 2481 PS as most realise with L2000 heads it is best to use 2 spark plug washers as many plugs with one washer can stick through one thread too much and on removal after especially leaded fuel is used can damage thread in head.
