As some know we have ongoing issues since our prop was sent into Eric
Weston for a 6 year "service" as would throw out of cruise setting.

I have replaced the slide and the pitch adjustment ring and this fixes the
issue for guess 9 months then it is back to its normal tricks of throwing
out of cruise. You could see the excessive ware in these parts had
restarted again.

Last Monday with a switched on mechanic friend we really decided to check
what was really happening. We noticed another motorglider prop had no slop
with the 50mm x 25 mm channel when you pulled from side to side where as
ours had heaps of sideways slop. I took this annulus behind the slide and
JB welded 2 layers from a Pepsi can which took out 95%of the slop and fixed
the issue. Thus I had a new annulus made by a friend and now problem of
throwing out of gear is gone totally. We could see always the slide was
damaging as was the aluminium prop adj just ring nut but never went back to
cause and this slop.

At no stage did Eric Weston change this part and was so simple to make. He
got us an exchange boss thus new serial number and made zero difference but
cost $3300!!

So all I say once a year rock that front part of prop (the four 8mm studs
and the 50mm by 25m aluminium channel) back and forward and if no play just
keep flying. This has been a 5 year saga and Eric sent out bills of $10300
but I have only paid him $9700.

Always check the counterweight angle as Eric did many props just WRONG.

Very frustrating 4 years but is so nice to be able say we have found the
real issue without any good help from Australian Air Props Hoffman so
called service centre i. Australia.

I will never ever trust these so called "experts"
