G'day Everyone, In 2003 the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority removed the calendar time requirement for powered aircraft with Hoffman props. The CASA AD is attached.
Initially CASA did not apply it to sport aircraft for some strange unknown reason. The Gliding Federation of Australia resolved this anomaly by including paragraph 13.7.4 in it's Manual of Standard Procedures (also attached) which stated that the CASA prop AD could be applied to motor gliders. For all of you in other countries, this Australian experience may be of some use in getting your own system changed. The 6 year overhaul requirement is just plain dumb (and expensive) for low hour motor gliders which have been stored well in hangars. regards Rob Rob Thompson 0429 493 828
