OK I will try and put together some stuff for you all. Included will be a kind of “repair scheme” documentation which I did prior to the repair for VH-GNW some years ago. .. of interest that repair has been completed and it is sitting on its U/C though there is still a lot of work to complete … ie all the finishing .. sanding (multiplied by 10) and painting etc.
Some of the info may be a bit scruffy as it will be a scanned copy Best regards Ian Williams New Zealand From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Michael Stockhill Sent: Wednesday, 26 November 2025 2:38 pm To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [DOG mailing list] Dimona H36 landing gear strap bolts I would also like to be copied on this matter. I need to replace the cushion material between the strap and the landing gear leg. I tried loosening one or two of the nuts, but the bolts (rod ends?) also turned. I couldn't readily find internal access. The drawing would be helpful. Both are the early ones supplied to the Thai Air Force who had no thoughts about certified type certificates and what they mean. The latest one I am working on (EX Australian VH-GNW) the rod ends were replaced thru holes thru the bottom skin. Which also cut effectively the lower structural roving longerons. A question or 2 * Can u send a picture of the damaged strap ? * Confirm the rod ends are High Tensile. Can be identified by a x on the threaded end. * Drilling holes is not a biggie, but u do need to know where the rovings actually are to avoid damaging them. I can send u a pic of where we drilled the hole foe the rear one … the front one is covered by carpet but will try and identify where to cut for you. Once installed they are safety wired from the inside I do have a couple of drawings of that area which I can send … H36 820.113.00.001.0 shows the installation of the steel rod that the rod ends attach to and how they are attached to the airframe … quite interesting. Has anyone completed this task ? Photos and details of the work required to access the rod ends would be much Appreciated. I understand that I need to cut holes, from the cockpit but unsure of best size and location. Also the details of the replacement rod ends that were used. Thanks Kirk
