A question . We have recently sent another 4330 Slick mag for the usual
2 year bench check. The NZ CAA approved engineer said that there is an AD
which specifically requires these mags to be "overhauled " after 12 years.

Despite the biannual checks

The problem seems that Champion (Slick manufacturers) want to sell new
replacements od simply get rid of the "old" slick 4330 mags.

A case here .. I have an unused 4330 mag (Right hand including impulse )
which is significantly older than 12 years (Serial No 93040014) which
presumably the 93 is the year of manufacture. It was part of what I picked
up from the purchase of VH-GNW in Australia.

So theoretically it needs a complete overhaul before it can be used (not
just the standard bench check and certified release note).

The cost of replacement parts for these magnetos is like gold ( not helped
by Trump, the US economy, and a very low NZ Dollar)

SO what could be a solution ? Perhaps some official data approving time
expired mags but have passed their 24mth inspection to be used for non
commercial use.

I would be really interested in any comments / suggestions

Best regards
