CMTs Biofuels & Feedstocks Indonesia 2007
The unique feature of this conference is a gathering of governors/regent from
different regions, together with a lawyer will address land supply and land law
issues.
Indonesia is targeting a 10% domestic usage of biofuels by 2010, said
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
- extracted from BKPM website dated 25/07/06
Private sector has been showing keen interest in the take up of biofuels
projects after the Indonesian government slashed fuel subsidies last year. Many
local and foreign companies have formed JVs to capitalize on biofuels
potential. So far, about 19 biofuels projects have been announced in Indonesia,
ie. an estimated capacity of 187 million liters in 2007 which will increase
year by year, cumulating to 1,337 million liters in 2010, achieving the 10%
target.
The government plans to scrap value-added taxes for biofuel products to cut
costs and raise the competitiveness of biofuels produced in Indonesia. It also
wants to waive or lower taxes on capital gains from trading stocks and on
income from bonds issued by companies involved in biofuels, Alhilal Hamdi, Head
of the National Team for Biofuel Promotion said.
- Bloomberg News, 2/10/06
More biofuel crops need to be planted in order to satisfy the appetite of
growing biofuels production. The government has set aside 6.5 million hectares
of suitable land for the development of additional plantations. Of the total
land allocation, some 3 million hectares are designated for oil palm, 1.5
million for jatropha, 1.5 million for cassava and 500,000 for sugarcane.
CMTs Biofuels & Feedstocks Indonesia 2007 gives you the opportunity to be
where the action is. The panel of leading industry players, investors and
officials will provide insights that can help you capitalize on biofuels
growth in Indonesia.
Special focus on Jatropha Markets, Plantation and Processing. Jatropha
experts from India, Malaysia and within Indonesia will address important issues
concerning this non-edible oil. Highlights include demand/supply of jatropha
oil, availability of plantation materials, feasibility of jatropha as
feedstock, price structure and economics.
