I saw something similar yesterday. I could plot using Viper from the
command line ("viper mesh.xml") but not from Python.
I did an "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade" and the problem went away.

message:
Attempt to import vtk before the DOLFIN imports to avoid a segfault with
Oneiric and latest Nvidia drivers.
I have no idea why I get the segfault, or why this works. I don't get a
segfault when plotting from C++, but I do when plotting from Python. Any ideas?
