How about using Element.setName()?

a large hierarchy of Elements and I need to change the name of an element near
the top of the tree.
Can
anyone suggest the best way of doing this?
I am
unable to re create the descendant elements so is it a case of copying the
tree below and attaching it to the new Element…sounds very processing
intensive.
