Instead of setting the external schema property, you could
use the following (xerces):
SAXReader reader = new SAXReader( true);
reader.setFeature(
"http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema";,
true);
See:
<http://xml.apache.org/xerces2-j/features.html#validation.schema>
This should validate your xml document against the
XML Schema or DTD defined in your XML document.
