If not for a DTD, how do you know that the whitepsace between </color>
and <size> is ignorable? If <car> contains mixed content, it wouldn't be
ignorable.

I guess I'm starting to understand that, even though it frustrates me
to no end. When dealing with XML as a data format (read: data, not
markup like html, or other documents) there's rarely mixed content. Or
at least, it's the exception to the rule. In any case, I was hoping
I'm not the only person who's had this frustration when trying to deal
with XML as a data format.
