just a quick note here. myself and the two other senior folks who would
respond here are at ispcon and james is at the traffic conference so
the limitation on a detailed response is simply logistics not will. my
goal is (family willing) to get it out over the weekend.

a few quick notes (real quick). the two days notice is wrong, we agree,
we think something like two weeks would have been more appropriate. I
could give explanation (and may to some extent in the longer response)
but want to be clear it is just that, explanation not excuse. the
notice should have been longer.

second, my longer response will provide more details. the whole picture
is necessary to understand this. what we will provide will be, we
think, reseller-friendly and registrant-friendly. we know it will be
WAY more so than what anyone else will be doing, but we do not like to
judge ourselves by those standards. being at ispcon has allowed me to
discuss this with a great number of resellers. we had a reseller event
here tuesday night that was well attended and I talked about this in
some detail. I have also had a number of conversations at the booth
about it. I am not aware of one reseller who was unhappy, wanted to opt
out or expressed any ethical concerns. in fact I would describe the
response as positive and appreciative. the more they understood and the
more detail they had, the better they felt.

sorry, but got to run. that's all for now.

Elliot Noss
