The speculation is in so far bad as the scarcity it is based on is
purely artificial. With landownership you have a (partially) natural
scarcity. That there are only a small number of top level domains is a
fact created by ICANN. In some countries they would be subject to legal
actions because of hindering free market.

Personally I don't mind much. I can live very well in both possible worlds.
