Hello my friends,
I am trying to re-gather my scattered brains today. See something happened
to me yesterday and I am still baffled by it.
I mean I realize that we are all older rock-n-rollers and that the music
today is a bit 'out there' for most of us, but the kids today...My God!
The Doobie Brothers bring us all together to celebrate music and enjoy the
pure pleasure, of living and loving and sharing. The kids that dig the Doobie
Brothers are influenced by their music and to me seem fairly well grounded.
It's like they appreciate the older style rock, while they still venture into
the new age sh**/stuff.
Well yesterday I almost lost my daughter...literally. It was The Big Ass
Show (all day concert) in Salt Lake City.....at the same place the Doobies
played two years ago.
They weren't in the Mosh Pit....(which I still don't get the concept of
that) they were just standing, sort of off to the sidelines waiting for
'Unwritten Law' to begin it's set. This kid (a friend of Alayna's) reached up
and took his girlfriends head and Alayna's head and bashed them together.
Alayna's forehead exploded and these two girls hit the ground.
What in the hell would ever prompt someone to do such a stupid thing?
Alayna nor Lyndsea were knocked unconsious, but the gash in A.J.'s head
(just above the eyebrow about an inch from her temple) was laid open an inch
and half wide and about two inches long. The police and EMT's were right on
it and quickly got her and Lyndsea into the medical area.
They contacted us and told us she had to be taken to the hospital a.s.a.p.
because she needed stitches and may or may not have a concussion. Well
although we were 60 miles away, we opted to go and get her and take her to
the hospital ourselves.
She took 10 stitches and today looks like she was battered.
I mean the kid that did it 'feels bad' and WILL pay for the medical
bills....but what the heck is with this head banging/bashing/Mosh Pit
mentality??? I just don't get it!
Peace, love and rock-n-roll, isn't that what concerts are suppose to be
about? One stupid action, an inch off, could have killed my daughter!
Do any of you have to deal with type of stuff with your rock-n-roll kids?
All the bad, that I ever experienced from my rock days, were bad trips, an
occasional fight and 'rushing' to get to the front.
Okay I've taken enough of your time. I just had to vent! I've been
listening to The Doobie Brothers as I have typed this and now I feel better
mentally. But AJ just walked in here, before going to take her shower.....and
the lump just came back up in my throat!
I can't and won't keep my kids from attending concerts...I don't want to
turn into a square. But geez... what's up with this type of stuff?
Peace, Holly
