Horray for the judicial system. We all love the Doobies past and pesent, but
bidness is bidness. By the way Chet and Corny were NOT original Doobies.

Founding Doobie Members Robbed of Right to Rock
By David Sprague
When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way... but when you're a Doobie
Brother, things are a little bit different. The multi-national conglomerate
that operates under the name "The Doobie Brothers" has won a preliminary
injunction against three former, er. "employees" who've been using the name
to tour the nation's backroads. A Florida judge stepped in and ordered Dave
Shogren, Chet McCracken and Cornelius Bumpus, all of whom were original
members of the Doobies, to stop booking and promoting their new group under
any "Doobie" variation, since those are all registered trademark belonging
to the Doobie Brothers Corp. The band, which formed in 1970, has undergone
numerous personnel changes over the years -- kinda like Menudo or the Foo
Fighters -- but the corp. retains the name. -- David Sprague
