Greetings Doobie Fans! I have come across some information as to why Pat Simmons made the now famous "Ricky Martin" comment. I was looking over the Farwell Tour Book, & one of the lines reads "..........as one of popular music's current sex symbols, Simmons is adored my millions of fans...........".
