Gina,

There well may be a ranch called China Grove, but there really is a very
small town just east of San Antonio on highway 87. I was in San Antonio a few
years ago and made the short drive over there. It is basically a wide spot in
the road with a few stores and old buildings. Not much there at all, but it
is there in all its glory.

It was really pouring rain at the time I was there or else I would have
gotten out of the car and taking a picture posing by the China Grove sign.
The way the town looked, it made me wonder if anyone there even knew there
was a classic rock song written about it.

The funny thing is, TJ says he did not consciously write the song about that
specific little town, but miraculaously there really is "a sleepy little
town, down around San Antone."

Take care and keep on rockin' down the highway.

Tom C.
