Here's the scoop... sounds like a killer gig. Hopefully they'll be playing out a lot. -- Curt Excerpted from the Santa Cruz Good Times Here's an evening of legendary proportions. Peter Lewis, son of film star Loretta Young and one of the original players in the band Moby Grape, plays the Brookdale Lodge this Friday. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Moby Grape formed in the '60s and had its share of ups and downs throughout its existence. The band of Jerry Miller, Skip Spence, Bob Mosley, Don Stevenson and Peter Lewis, was nominated in the San Francisco Examiner as one of the best all-time bands in the past millennium, and Rolling Stone dubbed the first Moby Grape album as the greatest rock album ever made. Lewis' latest bandmates are consummate professionals as well. Tiran Porter of Doobie Brothers fame is featured on vocals and bass, David West, a veteran of Kate Wolf's band, is on guitar and vocals, and rounding out the line-up is James Preston, formerly with the Sons of Champlin, Santana, and Van Morrison. Lewis has recently finished a new CD for which Rolling Stone has given five stars. The producer on this project was Doobie Brothers' John McFee. Lewis promises to play some tunes from the Moby Grape days as well as new material. The Brookdale Lodge is the spot on Friday night! _________________________ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe doobiefans-list" in the body.
