Subject: SARATOGA 2000 Question/Opinion
A little wrinkle has developed regarding the scheduled events for SARATOGA
2000 and we're seeking an opinion of those fans who are likely to attend.
As everyone is aware, the concerts at Montalvo are scheduled for WE-FR, not
the usual FR-SU. While this presented an interesting dilemma, no problem,
we worked around this.
Our original thinking was to hold the Fan Club Social on Thursday evening,
August 24 and the Doobie Brothers Fan Club Convention on Friday, August 25
from 2-6pm. No events would be scheduled for Wednesday, August 24 as many
people would likely be traveling. The Fan Club Convention would take place
as it did last year, at the Los Gatos Lodge in the El Gato Room and on the
patio by the pool. That worked so smoothly...something just had to come up,
didn't it...
Yesterday I called to reserve the patio and the El Gato Room. We can have
the El Gato Room, however, the patio has already been reserved for Friday,
August 25. So, here's where the opinion is oh-so-very important. Should
we:
1) Just hold the event in the El Gato Room and forget the patio (we
don't really need the tables that were in the middle of the room, that will
give us room)
2) Move the Fan Club Social to Wednesday and the Convention to Thursday
so that we can get both, or,
3) Look for another location for the events (not very likely).
Honestly, I'm leaning toward option number 1. All day on Wednesday and
early Thursday are likely to be heavy travel days for fans. The grounds of
the Los Gatos Lodge are pretty spread out and the bar is right across the
hall, so we have room to spread out if necessary (Imagine a guitar clinic in
under one of those shady trees...
We'll do whatever everyone thinks is best. Also, please consider that the
rates for the room and patio have increased from last year. The El Gato
Room is now $400, up from $350 and the patio is $325 up from $275.
