Doobiefans,
I'm sure we're all pleased to see the successful
return of Carlos Santana. I've always been a fan of his (we don't live by
The Doobs alone!). At the Grammy Awards, a recurring theme was to bring
back musicianship into today's music. I whole-heartedly agree. Now
that the appreciation for virtuoso electric guitar work has been rekindled,
I think this could be the year for some other great guitar men (Pat, Tom, &
John, to name just 3) to make their comeback. The new CD,
this spring, just might do it! I think The Doobs can do it without
Rob Thomas or Lauryn Hill, if their material is good and if the powers-that-be
give them a chance. I have "Supernatural" and like it, but it's no match
for "Cycles" or "Brotherhood". I just don't understand why our guys get
overlooked? Maybe this will change for them like it did for Santana.
What do you folks think?
"...Guitar man sets the strings on
fire..."
